Boycott Durban III

No support in Berlin for United Nations event because "our partner Israel is denounced as an apartheid state."

Reminders for why we didn't like Durban I:

It turned into an Israel hate-fest, where ridiculous comparisons were made between Israel's defensive measures against terrorists and Apartheid. (I will repeat again and again: Israel has nothing in common with Apartheid South Africa)

Then there was Durban II:

Many countries boycotted it, and others left the auditorium when notorious Israel bashers and Holocaust deniers were given a pulpit.

Durban II is the place where Ahmadinejad was given an audience to speak to, while Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Elie Wiesel was verbally harassed with "Zion-nazi" slurs.

Highlight of the conference: The clowns from the UEJF making a point during Mad Moody's speech.

Now, there's Durban III coming up in New York, on the 21st of September 2011. Just around the time when the Palestinian Statehood bid will be voted on... Coincidence?

I'm counting on "good" countries to boycott it, and for organizations like StandWithUs and UN Watch to be present, denounce, and make a general mockery of this circus.

600 French Jews to Arrive on Mass Aliyah Wednesday

A group of 600 Jews from France will be making Aliya (immigrate to Israel)
on two chartered planes Wednesday, arriving at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion airport.
The two planes, one El Al and one Israir, will be taking off from Paris and
Marseille. The mass Aliyah was coordinated by the French AMI organization,
modeled after the Nefesh B’Nefesh organization’s Aliyah assistance, as well as
the Jewish Agency for Israel.
This year has seen a ten percent increase in French
Aliyah.

Yeah, this isn't news. Jews don't feel too loved in France. Remember Ilan Halimi?
His kidnappers, torturers and killers said they didn't do it for anti-semitic motives. They said they did it because Jews are rich, and Ilan Halimi was Jewish.
But no, that's not anti-semitism now, is it?

A Belgian woman moved to the town of Oswiecim, where the Auschwitz death camp is located, and as such, is the first Jew registered to be living there since WWII.

Who Will Avenge Farfur?

Of course this wasn't the end of this Palestinian Child Abuse.
Hamas television to replace 'martyred' Mickey Mouse look-alike

A Hamas television station that last week killed off a Mickey Mouse
look-alike who urged children to fight against Israel will use other famous
characters to further their Islamist agenda, station officials said on
Monday.

And what is this Islamist agenda? Repeat after me.
Total. Destruction. Of. Israel.

"Farfur was a story alive and he has turned into another story as a
[martyr]," Saeed said.

Just like in real life, martyrs are used to further ignite the spiteful, violent passions of the Palestinian mobs.
Mark my words, whatever new character they use will try to avenge Farfur's death in holy Jihad against the murderous, criminal Jews who killed the innocent Farfur just because he had a rusty old key.


But all this is not shocking to me. It's been years and years that we've complained that Palestinian youth is getting a violent, virulent education on television. Constantly bombarded with images of death and fabricated scenarios of Israelis destroying anything remotely Palestinian. The world is waking up only because this is Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse?

This is not new. This video right here is a compilation of things I've seen at least since 1999, some of them maybe even before.
This means that while I grew up watching fuzzy muppets singing the ABC (or rather, the Aleph-Beth), those kids grew up with visions of killing the nameless Israeli enemy. Today's generation grew up on those images. They are completely brainwashed. Will the little girl dressed in green singing about wearing a battledress ever be able to see me, an Israeli, as a human being? Now that she's a teenager, does she realize? Is it possible to ever change her mind now?

Is it possible for children who have been indoctrinated with this filth to ever lead normal lives?

The Anti Defamation League gave me a reason to smile.

I'm going to assume that if you're reading this blog, then you know that there is a call for an academic boycott of Israel by the the University and College Union. It calls on college lecturers to "consider the moral implications of existing and proposed links with Israeli academic institutions."

Moral implications? Oh yeah, because you see, Israeli academic institutions are morally wrong because everyone can be a student in them, no matter what religion or race or political affiliation the student might have (can you say as much about Birzeit University?). Or maybe it's that Israeli academic institutions are morally wrong because they are the birthplaces of incredible scientific and medical advances.
Ahhhh, no, sorry, I got it now, the Israeli academic institutions are morally wrong because they are Israeli. Israel will always be singled out as the bad guy, no matter how much good Israel actually brings to the world. And defenders of this boycott will say that this is Anti-Zionism, not Anti-Semitism, thinking that this gives them authority to single out the only Jewish country in the world.
(Btw, if you'd like to try and prove to me that the two are different, I'd love to to challenge you and show you why they are one and the same, at least in most cases)

Anyhow, kudos to the ADL, who came out with the anti-boycott campaign!

"If they included Israel in their critique, I'd say Israel doesn't belong, but I wouldn't call it anti-Semitism. But if the only country that is subject to criticism in the whole world is Israel, I call it anti-Semitism."

Very well said. I'm sure the ADL won't mind if I post some of the anti-boycott pictures, seen as the goal is for these images to be seen by as many people as possible. The boycott section of their site is down for a while, but I hope it'll be up and running again soon.

First post

I know people can't always agree. I know most of the people around me don't agree with me. And this is a problem, because actually most of my best friends hate my political opinions. You see, I'm not a socialist, I'm not a leftist, I don't hate Bush, I have no sympathy for Islamists, I don't hate Sarkozy and I guess I am just generally considered as politically incorrect. I tire of arguing with my friends, especially since everything I say about the USA, Israel, the war on terror, Palestinians, the elections in France, Iran, the war in Iraq, 9-11, 7-7, the veil, anti-semitism etc, seems to them to be tainted because I happen to be Israeli.

Yes, I am Israeli. Oh yeah, and Jewish. And therefore people assume that my opinion on what happens in my country (though I haven't lived there since my teens) is biased. Never mind the fact that about 50% of Israelis don't agree with me either. My opinion is biased.

Though it's true, I love my country and no matter where I live in the world I will still consider it MY country, I am capable of criticizing her decisions and actions. I try to remain objective and try to think of things not in terms of "Israel and Palestine" or "Jews and Muslims" or "Jews and non-Jews", but rather people from category A and category B. Easier said than done, I know. But I try. Still, no matter how I turn things, most of the time there's an obvious double standard when it comes to judging Israel. I will talk more about that as this blog progresses (I hope).

Who I really am is not important, as this blog isn't about me. I love civilized discussions, so feel free to comment. But don't forget, this is still my world, and I get to write what I want. If you don't like it, make your own blog. A blog I read a lot is Meryl Yourish, and just like her blog, this is a No Israel-Bashing Zone. If you do not respect the rules of my world, your comments will not be tolerated. I could just quote what she says about it, but the basic idea is this: Whether you agree or not, Israel gets bashed quite a lot, too much. I will not create a platform for Israel to be bashed some more.

There, now that I've done my aggressive bit, I can say I've really written my first post.
I will post mostly in English, but since I am currently living in France, I will probably want to express myself about things happening here and to our neighbors in French. Though I am not very interested in my local politics, so those parts will be rather superficial. I might occasionally post in Hebrew, but this will be more nostalgia.

About nostalgia, I chose Moishe Oofnik to represent me because I feel this is how others see me. For those who aren't familiar with the stars of my childhood, Moishe is from Rehov Sumsum , which is the Israeli equivalent of Sesame Street, and Moishe is the Israeli Oscar the Grouch. When I talk politics with my friends, I feel they all see me as an extremist, though I just try to point out facts and reality and unfairnesses which I notice. So instead, I will vent here, or post things that I find are interesting and most people don't know.

One day I might look back on this post and think to myself that as far as first posts go, I really could have been wittier or at least more interesting. But for now, I guess it'll do.
